A typical Spring Saturday morning at
The weather is cool, there are a few clouds in the sky.
Music is playing.
Smells of roasting nuts, German sausages,
barbecued ribs and kettle corn fill the air.
Shoppers wait for the 8:00 a.m. opening bell to ring
so they can visit the market's 200 vendors and
fill their bags and carts with local produce,
cheeses and breads, honeys, jams, pastries,
meats and seafood, flowers and nursery stock,
meat pies, oven baked pizza, homemade soups -
the list of options is a long one.

Many of you have asked me to post a photo.
My dear friend, Sandie, helps me every Saturday and
here she is, poised and ready to hand out samples of
freshly roasted, still warm, sugar and cinnamon glazed almonds.
I'm linking this post to Mary's Little Red House for Mosaic Monday. Please visit Mary's site to see all of this week's beautiful mosaics.
I've also linked up today with Anne at Quickeasycheaphealthy. I just discovered her beautiful blog and hope you will stop by to meet her.
Thank you for sharing this! I cannot wait for our market to open the first week of June. It has been our Saturday ritual for many summers. Love the radish mountain!!!!! I'll look forward to visits to your market through your photos throughout the summer.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
Looks like a super market :) Wish we had one here! I'd be afraid to go near radish mountain, it would just be my luck...
ReplyDeleteI love going to our farmer's market every Sunday. Your's looks WONDERFUL. Our's even has doggies that have been rescued from the pound, usually the day before they would be euthanized. I have gotten three from those wonderful ladies.
ReplyDeleteI love going to the Beaverton Farmer's Market...I purchased rhubarb to make soon a strawberry rhubarb cobbler.
ReplyDeleteI'm thrilled we get to see your 'joint'!! :D Your beautiful photos and great descriptions made me wish I was there! I'm going to have to give our local Farmers' Market a visit (though it doesn't compare to yours!) *sigh*
ReplyDeleteI wish we had a better market in Phoenix.
ReplyDeleteWow! Look at those radishes! How I wish we had a Farmer's Market of this caliber. If I ever get close to Beaverton... (looks whistfully...)
ReplyDeleteNow, that is a farmer's market I would love to visit! I'll think of the rhubarb booth when I go out to pick some of my own from the back yard tomorrow...it's more valuable than I thought!
ReplyDeleteAs usual I am so enthralled by the photos of your so beautiful Farmer's Market...ours definitely do not look like this!
ReplyDeleteThe Portland food scene is much written-up in our Victoria paper. I am determined to see it for myself - perhaps in August. Same some for me!
ReplyDeleteI bet it's not possible to go there without spending up big and filling the car!! It's all so healthy and fresh you'd feel positively virtuous buying anything!!
ReplyDeleteWow, that looks like an amazing farmer's market; much better than ours! I wonder if you would consider linking up at my new Eat Local Eat Fresh blog carnival? http://quickeasycheaphealthy.com/2011/05/fitbloggin-11-and-eat-local-eat-fresh/
ReplyDeleteI have never tasted anything better than Oregon Strawberries. I'm at least 45 minutes to an hour away from any farmer's market that compares to this. ...sigh
ReplyDeleteYour market looks fabulous! I loved all the photos. Ours doesn't hold a candle to yours.
ReplyDeleteAnd how marvelous to see your booth!
And you get to go there every weekend???? Sheer Heaven, especially for a Foodie!! I would just flip with excitement at all the delicious choices. I need to find such a place near me. I think we have one south of us...I've passed it & seen TONS of cars, which deterred me from stopping. Next time, for sure!
ReplyDeleteYour booth looks very nice, Cathy. I like how you used CINNAMON colored skirting for the table to go with the name, Cinnamon Glazed Nuts & the color of your logo. Very cool. ;-)
fondly,
Rett
Oh Cathy, this made me so envious! Since moving to Montana, I don't get to do grand-scale farmer's markets anymore, but your description of the smells and sounds as well as those fabulous photos capture the experience perfectly! Love that radish mountain shot. ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great market..I look forward to your seasonal shots..that radish mountain:)
ReplyDeleteYour little tent set up is so cute too..:)
I so wish we had a market like this that was already open. So great!
ReplyDeleteI always luv seeing pictures of your farmer's market. I luv shopping at them!
ReplyDeleteI am sorry I missed seeing you two at the market this weekend. My husband was out of town and I was so busy getting the house ready for showing and out looking at properties with our realtor. UGH. It looks like you had a lovely day at the market.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a radish mountain before! That is interesting!!
ReplyDeletei just love your market pics, it makes me wish i could visit!
ReplyDeleteWhat fantastic pictures, Mom! I'm going to try to get out there this Saturday so I can buy some of the wonderful goodies only found there! I can't wait!!!
ReplyDeleteIf I lived there, that's where you would find me. Such lovely looking food. Your space looks great. Joni
ReplyDeleteThat sure is some great looking everything - I'd have to see how many radishes I could pull from the bottom of the mountain.
ReplyDeleteBonjour Cathy,
ReplyDeleteLove your booth, wish I could drop by. Great market photos, the strawberries would be great followed up by those delicous looking cinnamon buns!
Have a good week,
Mimi
Cathy, that looks like a farmer's market we would enjoy; we may have to venture north, visit our son in Beaverton and take a look. Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love farmer's markets? The fresh fruits, the vegetables that are bursting with flavors. That photo of the radishes is a winner.
ReplyDeleteRadish mountain, very cool. And I would love to taste my way thorugh that. Those breads sound wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI can hardly wait to see it. It doesn't look anything like the ones I have visited.
ReplyDeleteNow I see why my son says he loved that market! I am absolutely drooling (sorry for the mess) over that luscious rhubarb--mine looks emanciated after our 'lovely spring' (not!) weather...and those strawberries, nuts, crab--I am just going to have to go there soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit!
Blessings,
Aimee
love your pics, but those nuts are calling me!
ReplyDeleteI wish we had such a beautifully stocked market as this one. Ours is good but yours looks fantastic! I am amazed that there is so much available so soon.
ReplyDeleteYour warm cinnamon nuts must taste wonderful!
The Rhubarb looks so good! Strawberry Rhubarb Pie is a fave here.
ReplyDelete~Judy
So colourful! OK, that mountain of radish looks a bit scary, looks like it'll collapse anytime!
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy looking at your farmers' market photos. Each one looks just gorgeous. I wish I were close by so I could come and taste some of your delicious nuts:)
ReplyDeleteHow lovely! Thanks for sharing these pictures. Must be fun to have a booth there. :) I'm your newest follower.
