Saturday was as beautiful day a day as you could find
here in the Pacific Northwest.
You could see your breath early in the day but
it was warm enough in the afternoon for children to play in the fountain in the park
and for families to enjoy music and great food at the farmers' market.
No matter how sternly I talk to myself about not bringing home
more produce than I can use in a week
I once again overdid it.
Everything is so fresh and beautiful, my good sense goes out the window,
and I add bags of "a little of this and that" to my cart until it's overflowing.
Corn, Tomatoes, Peppers, Squash,
Mushrooms, Melons, Cauliflower,
Plums, Apples and Cider.
It's going to be a busy week in my kitchen.
Won't you stop by to visit all the other mosaics featured this week
I'm afraid I'm guilty of overbuying at our farmers' market especially near the end of the season. Our market ends in mid October and I'm feeling the need to can and freeze as much as possible to keep the "bears" happy at the table over the winter.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
I've given up on trying to resist. Why SHOULD we resist- my grandmothers always enjoyed the season!

Hello. I'm Lori. I'm an Over-buyer.
ReplyDeleteThose beautiful fruits and vegetables are so beautiful, it's too hard to pass them up! I can't wait to see what wonderful concoctions come out of your kitchen this week, Cathy! :D
My favorite spot to shop. I love all of the wonderful, seasonal food finds at my local farmer's market.
ReplyDeleteOmigosh, that all looks so wonderful -- I would be buying way too much, too! Thanks for sharing at MM. :)
ReplyDeleteBusy, busy, busy....but so much love coming from the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteThe fall market colors are just gorgeous and you captured them perfectly, Cathy. Have a great day. Blessings...Mary
ReplyDeleteI love the colors and flavors of fall. What a beautiful bounty, Cathy!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful produce! Would have a stack in the fridge now if I had been there.
ReplyDeleteThat's some great haul! I'd overbuy, too, with that kind of produce!
ReplyDeleteLOL, I do the same thing, and I am not a vegetable lover! But it all looks so fresh, and then I have to cook all week and use it!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing the prices in your pics! Around now we can get a huge head of cauli or cabbage for about $1. I do love cauli, and cole slaw, but really how much can we eat of it.
Glad it was such a nice day for you at the market! Makes working a lot more pleasant!
Beautiful mosaic!
I'll bet everything looked great! Enjoy it, soon enough we'll only have what the supermarkets supply! Have fun cooking:@)
ReplyDeleteCathy, I have the same problem when I go to our farmers markets. Moe says, I can't walk buy a vegetable without buying it.
ReplyDeleteI love all the squash, Cathy! And those mushrooms! Really, I need a list or I'd buy everything in sight. (and do anyway!)
ReplyDeleteThis is that beautiful time of year where abundance is clear:)
ReplyDeleteI remember taking an art class with a famous local watercolorist..who was always so anxious for summer to end..as Fall had all the glory.
Whenever we drive out to the farm stand 20 minutes away, I always bring back more veggies than I anticipated. :)
ReplyDeleteWell, how could you resist all that gorgeous produce?!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful fall market! These fall days are almost better than most of our summer and the colors and market offerings are wonderful. Sounds like you are eating good this week. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteJust lovely....you live in paradise!
ReplyDeleteSaturday was a perfect day for the market. It would be so easy to overdo. Have fun with all the produce. There is something so enriching to have that all laid out in our kitchens.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I could resist this beautiful produce either:) I am sure you will put it all to good use.
ReplyDeleteThe bottom, right photo is simply gorgeous - the colours and the promise of cool crunchiness...yum!
ReplyDeletebeautiful autumn pic
ReplyDeleteCan't believe it's autumn already! Looks like I have to go to the market soon too!
ReplyDeleteOh the thoughts of having a bunch of really good tomatoes in my kitchen brings tears to my eyes. Corn too. That's a lovely bounty indeed.
ReplyDeleteSam
It is like kids in a candystore at this time of the year in the markets. Just one of those and one of those and yes one of those.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely presentation of your market's goodies; love it.
ReplyDeleteRita
Love your photos of the colourful vegetables in your market...everything look so fresh!
ReplyDeleteCathy...those mushrooms alone would keep me very busy.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy all this lovely and generous produce...it looks amazing as well as those pics ;o)
Ciao for now,
Claudia
Wow that's quite a haul! I think I'll pick up some cider too! :)
ReplyDeleteSo many good things! I need to pick up more chanterelles.
ReplyDeleteI can never resist the bounty at the farmers market either.
ReplyDeleteMimi
Beautiful images, Cathy, and it feels like Autumn! The pumpkins, mushrooms, the deep oranges, yellows, greens and reds - just gorgeous! Change of menu!
ReplyDeleteStill marvel every time I see the photos of your Farmers Market - spectacular.
