Chocolate Brownies..inside out
It's difficult to improve upon the classic chocolate brownie, but when I saw this dressed up version at Foley's Follies I knew this traditional favorite had been kicked up a notch or two.Barb described these bars as "brownies with the frosting on the inside."
Simply prepare your favorite brownie recipe. Spread half of the batter in the pan and top with your favorite candy bars. I used 4 Hershey chocolate bars, and they covered the 8" square pan perfectly. Barb used Symphony bars with toffee. I topped the candy with 1/2 cup chopped walnuts and then added the remaining batter which I carefully spread over the top of the candy and nuts. Bake according to your recipe. These are yummy delicious and rich so serve with a glass of cold milk or a scoop of ice cream. Delicious!
wow, you just took brownies into another level of goodness.

We agree on both points--it's pretty hard to top a classic brownie, but this idea might do just that! We can't wait to try it out with our favorite brownie recipe.

ReplyDeleteFirst Barb tempted me and now you too! I can't make them until I have company so I don't eat them all myself. I'm a nutty gal too :)
ReplyDeleteit just doesn't get any better then this!
ReplyDeleteI'm, I'm, I'm speechless! This is genius. It will be made. Soon. Very, very soon. I suspect these brownies will only last about 2.2 seconds in my house. And for any of your readers who are gluten free, I'm going to try making this using a gluten free brownie mix. Then, I will fall into a blissful chocolate coma! :-) I've got to tell Marjie from ModernDayOzzieandHarriet about this. She makes brownies every Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I can imagine so many yummy possibilities!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful brownies Cathy! I m drooling!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful brownie! I love the nuts. Why don't I think to add nuts more often? And a layer of candy bars is such a simple dress up. Great idea.
