Hand Painted Hearts For Your Valentine ~ Saturday Blog Showcase

I loved Mari's painted sugar cookies the first time I saw them on her blog, Once Upon A Plate.  She has done several wonderful posts on hand painted cookies and every time I go back to look at them I make a promise to myself that I will try my hand at decorating cookies this way.  I've painted with watercolors for years and thought that I would be well prepared to paint simple or even intricate little pictures on royal icing using ordinary food colors. But, like so many things in life, it isn't as easy as I hoped it would be.

It was such fun to try this and I know that practice will help, so you will probably see my ongoing attempts  as holidays come and go. Mari is a cookie painting master and every cookie is beautifully decorated.  You can see her little works of art for yourself and find Mari's recipe for sugar cookies here and here and here.  If you've never visited Mari's blog you are in for a treat, and if you are a faithful follower like I am you will be inspired to try these cookies for yourself.  It was a little frustrating at first, but I think I'm getting the hang of it.

A huge thank you to Ann at Thibeault's Table and Lori at All that Splatters for creating Saturday Blog Showcase.  Lori is our host this week so stop by to see who is participating. Thank you so much, Ann and Lori, for sponsoring this event that let's us showcase some of our favorite recipes from blogs we love to follow.

  4. Those are beautiful, Cathy. I've never tried painting them, though I love decorating sugar cookies. I'm not sure I have the talent to come up with such works of art as you and Mari, but I do want to try this! Gorgeous!

  5. Cathy, these are just beautiful! I can't get over the talent it would take to make these. Between you and Mary, a girl could get a complex! LOL! Did you see Mary's (One Perfect Bite)? She swirled icing around, and the looked like pottery. Yours are also an amazing work of art. I'm impressed!

Happy Valentine's Day to you, Cathy! Hope it's a sweet one...

    XO,

    Sheila :-)
