What a Cheese Ball!

Most of the dishes are done, leftovers carefully wrapped in the fridge, and wrappings and ribbons cleared away after a wonderful Christmas day yesterday with family. Although I won't cook another large meal this week (that's the plan anyway) I still want plenty of snacks on hand and meals that can go together quickly. This is my cheese ball of choice this season and one I'm sure you will enjoy if you are a cb fan. The beau monde seasoning is the key to this recipe's success. Spice Island has sold this spice for many years and I'm sure you can find it on your grocer's shelf. It's a key ingredient in my homemade ranch dressing which you can find here so I encourage you to buy some and try both recipes.

Pineapple Cheese Ball

2 8 ounch packages cream cheese, softened
1 8-1/2 ounce can crushed pineapple, drained
1/4 cup green pepper, finely chopped
2 tablespoons green onion, finely chopped
1 tablespoon beau monde seasoning
1 cup walnuts, toasted and chopped

Combine all ingredients, except walnuts, and mix well. Form into a ball and wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate several hours or overnight. Overnight
is best. Before serving, roll the cheese ball in chopped walnuts and
serve with an assortment of crackers.

Note: The cookie cutter I used to make my personalized gingerbread place card cookies in my previous post is on sale now at William Sonoma for $9.99. Everybody loved seeing their names on a cookie at their place at the table.

  3. I know Spice Island but have never seen Beau Monde. Sounds too intriguing. And I simply love cheese balls like this with crackers. Yum! Merry Christmas!

  4. That looks like a good cheese ball. I use Beau Monde in another recipe -- you used to find it everywhere -- now it's harder to find and I've not had a jar in my larder for a while. I'll keep my eye out for it for I'd love to try this cheeseball.

  5. Thanks for the info on the cookie cutter, Cathy! I will go hunt them down just as soon as I hit "submit" here.

Thank you, too, for the really simple recipe for a delicious looking cheese ball! I've never used that spice before but I will look for it next time I'm in the grocery store.

I'm with you on NOT cooking another big meal for awhile....whew! Its been a marathon week in the kitchen around here.

    Hugs,
    Rett

  7. I make the same cheeseball but use a seasoning salt instead of the beau monde seasoning. I'll have to try that. Thanks, Cathy!

What a coincidence....I just happened to be looking through the spice isle in the store the other day and saw that spice and had never heard of it before and was curious what it taste like and now you have it in a recipe! Now for sure I'll have to try it! Looks delicious. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas with your family Cathy!

  16. I make this cheeseball often (minus the beau monde since I'd never heard of it). People go crazy for it! I'll have to check out that seasoning.

  17. Pineapple and cream cheese sound great together. I've also never heard of beau monde either.

  18. That was my strategy too - we snacked for days on leftovers, oranges, cheeses and smoked salmon.

Your cheese ball sounds like a winner. I have a bottle of beau monde but few recipes for it. I'll have to give this one a try.
